World Series Final Game Captures 51 Million Viewers Across the US, Canadian and Japan Regions.

The nail-biting extended clash where the Los Angeles Dodgers beat the Toronto Blue Jays by one run averaged a aggregate 51 million spectators across the US, Canada, and Japan territories. Major League Baseball stated this represents the most-watched World Series Game 7 after the 1991 contest featuring the Minnesota Twins and Atlanta Braves.

Broadcast Viewership Details

Last Saturday’s memorable game secured 27.33 million audience members on Fox networks, its Spanish-language channel and their streaming platforms. According to ratings data, it was the second most-watched broadcast of the week.

It also is the top-rated World Series matchup since the 2017 edition final game involving the Los Angeles Dodgers and Astros, which drew over 29 million. This marks a sixteen percent increase over the previous Game 7 featuring the Washington Nationals and Houston Astros, which drew 23.19 million viewers.

In the weekly rankings, Game 6 ranked 4th, the fourth game was 7th, Game 5 came in 8th, and Game 3 landed in thirteenth place.

International Audience Numbers

In the Canadian market, the climactic game drew 11.6M viewers on Sportsnet and the French TVA Sports. This was the most-watched English program in Canada since the 2010 edition Winter Olympics.

In the Japanese market, where the final game began at 9 PM local time, it attracted 12M. This came after last Friday’s Game 6 – where Fall Classic Most Valuable Player Yoshinobu Yamamoto gave up one run in six frames – drew 13.1 million viewers, making it the highest-rated World Series matchup on a single network in the country.

Overall Averages and Patterns

The entire seven-match World Series recorded over 15.7 million viewers on Fox, a 2% increase from last year’s Dodgers-Yankees matchup. This represents the first time since 2015 and 2016 that the World Series has seen audience growth for two straight seasons.

Counting the opening game broadcast on the Univision network, the total US viewership reached over 16 million. The total World Series average in Japan was 9.7M and 8.1M in the Canadian market.

The complete playoffs on Fox, FS1 and FS2 recorded over 8 million watchers, an eight percent rise compared to the previous year and the network’s best postseason ratings since 2017.

Major League Baseball announced that the World Series was broadcast in 203 nations and regions by forty-four broadcasting partners in sixteen various languages.
